Kasturi (TV channel)

Kasturi (Kannada: ಕಸ್ತೂರಿ) is a 24-hour Kannada-language television channel in Karnataka, India. It was launched on 26 September, 2007. The channel is owned by Kasturi Media Private Limited which is managed by Anitha Kumaraswamy, wife of the ex-chief minister of Karnataka, H. D. Kumaraswamy. Kasturi TV is available only on cable networks. According to Kumaraswamy he conceived the idea (of starting a TV channel) in 1995, when he was producing films. The channel is an infotainment channel, with 40 percent news content. Kannada director S. Narayan has been made in-charge of the entertainment part of the channel.

Notable programs

Sapta Swara for kids

After their successful musical programme-Sapta Swara for kids (music competition ) for which the finals was held on 27 January in Jayanagar Shalini Grounds. An audience of around 4000-5000 (by invitation) witnessed the final programme. The Chief Guest of the evening was Shri Manomurthy the most popular Music Director (of Mungaru Male fame) distributed the prizes. Now this channel wants to start a new programme for seniors known as `Haadina Bandi’ (Music wagon) This programme will be held in each district and about 20-25thousand people would be invited for the audition. Renowned Film Director-Nagathalli Chandrashekar, Singer L R Eshwari, Kasturi Shanker, Music Director-Nagendra Prasad are the judges.[1]

Nakra Bakra

A comedy program presented by Kasturi channel which is comparable with Just For Laughs Gags of pogo.

This program airs at 10:00pm from Monday to Friday.

Directed by Sagar, the episodes shot in and around Bangalore features the unsuspecting public, tricked into being part of the gag.

The serial's opening title music is composed by Vineeth Menon. Vocals are rendered by the Vikas Solanki and Pooja Rao. Lyrics are by Suryaprakash and director Sagar.

Vikas Solanki has also danced with Aamir Khan in the movie 3 idiots which was released in December 2009.
